Discovery #1 (Level One)
A way to turn a Safety Tip into a habit might be to make it into a game. For example, adapt the well-loved "Go Fish" card game by replacing regular playing cards with cards that show common phishing text messages. So instead of asking "Do you have 8's" players would instead ask "Do you have urgent alerts from your bank"?

Discovery #2 (Level One)
A way to turn a Safety Tip into a habit might be to make it part of a conversation. For example, hairdressers have captive audiences in their customers with whom they can share stories of scams and tips for avoiding them. By sharing juicy scam stories and fruitful safety tips, hairdressers build customer trust and loyalty. A community organizer can visit hairdressers in their community to offer both stories of scams and safety tips for them to share with their customers.

A Meerkat Defenders "Discovery" is an idea for turning a Safety Tip about protecting ourselves from online phishing into a daily habit.
Anyone! Anyone who is curious about how we might help each other turn Safety Tips into habits to protect ourselves from online phishing.
Not at all!
Discoveries focus on well-known Safety Tips about avoiding phishing. Turning these tips into habits requires creativity, understanding of human nature, and concern for our fellow humans. It's just like reminding ourselves to wear helmets when bicycle riding or to apply sunscreen when going outdoors. Turning these tips into habits does NOT require technical knowledge. It's the same for avoiding phishing.
An example could be to make learning about phishing scams fun by playing a card game similar to the widely-loved "Go Fish" that uses printed samples of real phishing scams as playing cards. Use the same rules as the "Go Fish" card game.
For the same reason many (if not most) of us still fail to: wear helmets when riding bicycles or skateboard; apply sunscreen when going outdoors; wear eye goggles when sanding or grinding anything hard; eat fresh fruits and vegetables instead of potato chips and French fries; etc.
Knowing something does not automatically lead to acting upon that knowledge. Some of us even know of cardiac surgeons who indulge regularly in artery-clogging fat-laden food!
Level One Discoveries are untested ideas for turning Safety Tips into habits. Because these ideas have not been used by people, it's unknown if these ideas will work.
Level Two Discoveries are tested ideas for turning Safety Tips into habits. These ideas have been used by at least one group of people and yielded results about how well the idea worked with that particular group of people. Such results can lead others to modify and adapt the idea for the same group of people or an entirely different group of people.
Both Level One and Level Two Discoveries are valuable to make and share with others. Anyone can make a Level One Discovery. A second person can take an existing Level One Discovery and test it with a specific group of people and share the results, thereby creating a Level Two Discovery. A third person can modify/adapt any Level Two Discovery for testing with their specific group of people and create a new Level Two Discovery. In this way, we build on each other's Discoveries.
